Bustamante Children’s Hospital, Jamaica’s only paediatric hospital, lacks critical medical equipment such as an MRI machine, a CT scanner, and essential diagnostic tools. Currently, children in need of urgent scans must be transported elsewhere, causing dangerous delays that put their lives at risk. Doctors and nurses work tirelessly, but without proper equipment, their efforts are limited. I recently lost my child, in part due to the hospital’s lack of resources, and no parent should have to experience such helplessness. My child’s death will not be forgotten. We must hold those in charge accountable and demand better healthcare for our children.
