We believe that, in light of recent events, particularly the death of a man who choked to death in a bun-eating competition, it needs to be mandatory to have designated, trained First Aid personnel at every public event, regardless of location and size.

I have seen service clubs providing training, and that helps. However, we need a sustained programme of First Aid training at all levels of society—schools and colleges, workplaces, and community-based organisations.
