Launch of the Jamaica Screen Development Initiative (JSDI)

Today, my administration officially launched the Jamaica Screen Development Initiative (JSDI) which is a game-changer for our film-making industry! 1 BILLION dollars is being allocated to the JSDI over a two-year period.

The JSDI will strengthen Jamaica’s local film industry by providing funds for projects in need of marketing, distribution and production support. Calls for applications will open on March 18, 2024 and will close on April 28, 2024.

We have heard the cries from the stakeholders of our creative industries, particularly our film industry, for more support. This Government is committed to investing in this industry as it has the ability to be a major driver of economic growth, job creation, peace-building and social cohesion.
