Chairman Linval Freeman, Chairman of the Board of the NHT His Worship, the Mayor, Councillor Richard Vernon, Mayor of Montego Bay, a man who is truly vested in ensuring that there is public order and cleanliness in the municipality of Montego Bay. I'm sure everybody has been more than adequately acknowledged but allow me nevertheless to do the formalities and start with acknowledging my good friend, Mr Tony Hylton, the wanna be baby father for logistics. But Tony is my good friend, and we share with no mean spiritedness or whatever because aside from being good friends, we are also neighbours. My constituency adjoins him, and I join with his comments in welcoming this development to the area because when we see these developments, the first thing that comes to our mind is that people in our constituency will be employed and so we are very, very happy for that. I forgot that they were medical professionals for a moment because they performed so well. Let me acknowledge your Master of Ceremonies, the distinguished Chief Medical Officer, Dr Jacqueline Bisasor-McKenzie. And I do recall the night of the 9th of March, five years ago, when our Minister of Health, Dr Christopher Tufton, made that faithful call to me to alert me that we could potentially have our first case of COVID-19. I had always prepared myself for that call since we first got notice of this brewing pandemic in February of 2019 and so it didn't come as a surprise, but there are things that you know it's going to come, but you still feel almost like a gut-wrenching pain when it was told to me that yes, Jamaica had its first case. I am aware that you have been waiting for some time and, therefore, Distinguished guests, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Industry leaders, Honoured exhibitors and buyers, Ladies and gentlemen, good evening. It gives me great pleasure and pride to open Expo 2025. This event has grown tremendously, now standing as the largest trade exhibition in the English-speaking Caribbean, an extraordinary testament to our nation's entrepreneurial spirit, ingenuity and ambition. Expo Jamaica exemplifies how far Jamaica has come, with over 250 exhibitors showcasing more than 5,000 products and services alongside 884 registered local and international buyers from 25 countries. This clearly reflects Jamaica's growing global influence and appeal.
