Statement by the Government of Jamaica on the Observance of National Partnership Day 2025
On the occasion of National Partnership Day 2025, the Government of Jamaica proudly joins with our social partners from the private sector, trade unions, civil society, the church, and the Opposition to reaffirm our enduring commitment to national unity, dialogue, and cooperation in pursuit of a stronger, more prosperous Jamaica for all.
As a newly elected administration, we approach this day with renewed energy, deep humility, and an unwavering belief in the power of partnership as a cornerstone of our democracy and development. We stand on the firm foundation laid by collaborative efforts through the National Partnership Council (NPC) and successive Social Partnership Agreements, each of which has shown that progress is best achieved when Jamaicans work together with shared purpose and mutual respect.
Reaffirming the Spirit of Partnership
Today, the Government recommits itself to this tradition of collaboration, which has been fulsomely embraced by the past 4 administrations. We recognize that the challenges ahead, which include economic transformation, climate resilience, digital inclusion, crime reduction, and equitable growth, cannot be solved by any one sector acting alone.
This administration will therefore continue to engage the National Partnership Council as a vital instrument for consultation, consensus-building, and accountability. We will strengthen its structure, ensure that it remains transparent and inclusive, and empower it to address emerging issues with the urgency and innovation they demand.
The principles that have long guided the partnership, including mutual trust, performance accountability, gender equality, environmental stewardship, and respect for human rights, remain as relevant today as ever. The Government reaffirms these principles as the moral compass for our policies and programmes.
A Call to Shared Responsibility
National Partnership Day is not merely a ceremonial observance; it is a call to action. It reminds every Jamaican that nation-building is a collective enterprise, requiring shared sacrifice, honest dialogue, and a common vision for the future.
We are proud to be a part of this most unique arrangement, which goes well beyond traditional tri-partite agreements into a “quadri-partite” agreement and embodies the integrally important participation of the Opposition. With this, we therefore call on our private sector, trade union, civil society, and church, as well as the Opposition, to a renewed commitment to rebuild trust, strengthen governance, and ensure that Jamaica’s development is not only sustained but shared equitably among all our citizens.
Towards a Stronger, More United Jamaica
As we celebrate National Partnership Day 2025, we renew our pledge to uphold the ideals of participatory democracy and collective progress. We remain committed to championing policies that promote prosperity, peace, and opportunity, anchored in dialogue and guided by the vision of Jamaica as the place of choice to live, work, raise families, and do business.
Let this day inspire all Jamaicans to recognize that partnership is not simply a policy. It is the pathway to the safer, fairer, more resilient Jamaica we all desire. One that is more united than ever before.
Together, in partnership, we will move Jamaica forward.
